FAQ'S

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions..

All ages from 5 to 15.

Our sessions are paid for by a monthly subscription, please select a venue to subscribe.

We cater for complete beginners and our qualified coaches will provide tuition which will help your child learn how to get the ball over the net and hold the racket properly. Our aim is to get them rallying the ball with fellow players. There is no requirement for beginners to compete in matches until they are ready.

Sessions are 45 minutes long.

The first time your child arrives we will assess their standard and then put them in a session we think best matches their ability. This ensures your child is in the appropriate session relevant to their ability.

Yes, there is no charge to register. You only pay for your child’s sessions, nothing else.

Depending on the session your child is assigned to you will be attending the same time each week.

First Aid is provided by the sports centres being used.

We aim to run all through the year with the occasional break for bank holidays and seasonal holiday periods. You will be made aware of any breaks by our coaches.

Yes. At most tennis clubs they make you pay a whole term in advance for your child. If you decide to leave, the coach should give you a refund for the remaining term you haven’t used.

Absolutely, in fact we encourage it. Most of our indoor venues are warm and some have places you can sit and get a drink. For our younger children, we think it’s good to give gentle encouragement to your child.

Some of our locations will have access to drinking water or vending machines but we recommend you bring your own water or sports drink with you.

We encourage good sportsmanship from every child and we encourage children to shake hands at the end of every match. However, some children may want to touch rackets or some children may not want to do anything, and we are pretty easy about that.

We advise a large sports drink, sports clothing and trainers. We provide rackets for everyone, so no need to worry about spending a fortune on new tennis gear.

Finding the right coach for your child is a minefield, so here at Tennis Kids we have independently assessed all our coaches for their child friendliness, skills and experience. Contact us to enquire further.

We play with larger sponge balls but this means that if your child is a beginner they can develop a proper shot, with a full swing, and hit the ball hard if they want to. Once your child is able to rally well, we progress them straight onto the proper yellow tennis ball.

We will assess regularly each session, and if a child is out of their depth, or clearly above the standard of the others in their session, we can move them accordingly to better suit their ability.
